About the Job
Summary and Purpose:
Successful quality inspectors are essential for maintaining high standards in manufacturing. They must be eager to learn, detail-oriented, capable of working in a fast-paced, team environment, and possess strong problem-solving skills. Their role is crucial in ensuring product quality and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect one or more-piece non-production jobs.
  • Communicate results accurately to operators/supervisors.
  • Work with tolerances as tight as 5 microns.
  • Support the Quality Manager in continuous improvement of the department.
  • Work with process drawings and inspection charts.
  • Complete plate layout inspections.
  • Perform gage calibration on all measuring equipment.

Requirements:
  • 2+ years’ experience with dimensional checking in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in understanding blueprints.
  • Good mental math skills.
  • General computer proficiency.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proficient in using micrometers, calipers, digital height gages, and optical comparators.
  • Ability to work on your feet for 8–10-hour shifts.
  • Must pass physical and drug screen.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Highly Valued but Not Essential:
  • Ability to program and/or run a Zeiss CMM utilizing Calypso software.
  • Experience with Zeiss vision features on the CMM.
  • Experience with optical shaft checking systems (Opticline).
  • Ability to program and/or run a Brown & Sharpe CMM utilizing PC-DMIS software.
  • Proficient knowledge of GD&T.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience working within an Epicor environment.
 
Preferred Schedule: 
  • 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
  • A normal shift consists of 8-10 hours per day, Monday thru Friday, and some Saturdays. Overtime is required with up to 14 mandatory Saturdays per year.
  • Approximation of hours: 45 – 48 hours per week on average. More overtime available upon request.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The manufacturing shop is highly maintained for cleanliness, with daily disinfecting and floor scrubbing. The entire building is air conditioned and ventilated to maintain cool and clean air quality.

This role may require standing, walking, sitting, and using hands to handle objects. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. The ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds is essential. Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment, are required to perform the job effectively.

Moeller Precision Tool is centrally located in Tennessee, just a 15-minute drive from Nashville, offering easy access to I-24, plenty of local restaurants, and many nearby apartments.
